BMW 5 Series - User Reviews - CarGurus

Each ranking was based on 9 categories. Here is the summary of top rankings. Best Car That I Have Owned — I would rate the car as an awesome piece of machinery, it look great, handles better and is always a joy to drive. From the first time I set eye's on it I knew that I had to have it, its been an great addition to my other vehicles.

Love It — This is a great car. We have taken it on several road trips. Very comfortable ride and it will pass almost anything on the hwy. I'm 6'2 lbs and have more than enough room in the front or back. Wish it had Bluetooth, nav, etc but wasn't as available in Simply Beautiful — This is an awesome car for the price.

Enough power for the highway, but not enough during red light to red light. That's ok, since I've had enough tickets from previous sports cars. All and all, a very solid car. Love the mid-range pickup. For a non-sport model, It has great handling. Not enough pickup and go from stop. Had to replace radiator, alternator, and battery as soon as I brought it.

Fortunately, they were covered by warranty. I will have trouble not owning a BMW. It's fit, finish, quality and performance will rival today's best luxury cars. The ultimate driving machine. Do yourself a favor and test drive one. Performance, Quality and Appearance are unmatched.

Acceleration is fine for me and on the highway, it doesn't even feel like you're moving. I have to pay attention as one time I had the car over 75 and didn't feel as though I was moving. I really like the 2 tone interior with the wood accents.

The sport seats are very comfortable and the air conditioner is first rate. The Xenon headlamps are cool and I especially like the sport steering wheel as, in at least, they came from th e 'M' series and has the 'M' logo on the wheel. There are also some very nice amenities such as the memory seat 3 settings can be saved , the passenger mirror that automatically points downward when you go in reverse, the thigh support in the seat, emergency flashlight in the glove box that is kept charged when placed in the docking station, and the lights in the door that illuminate the ground when you open the doors.

Don't buy them new However, this in underpowered as compared to its bigger brother, not in general. Its still a fantastic drive. Tight suspension, and elegant lines make this car the nicest ive ever owned to this day, and its almost 10 years old now.

Car can be finicky at times, and its it expensive as heel to maintain, but if you can't afford to fix it, you shouldnt buy it, IMO. Eye catcher, great suspension. Slightly underpowered, expensive maintenance, does't drive to the gas station for me. Good Value And Look — Can be expensive to upkeep. The E39 has problems with the charging system been through 3 alternators and it is not the most reliable 5 series ever built.

Performance is good and the look is great. Good Gas mileage and is very stable at high speeds. However on the good old days the engine was healthy enough to produce around horse power and it was very fast and the exhaust note sounded like a riced out Japanese car. The automatic gear box need to be re-worked on I think as it does not shift constantly at lower RPM when cruising. The appearance of the out look is ordinary just like any other 5 series from the old day, though under the bonnet theres a 2j engine from a supra.
