It has not rained for months I think, and while the mud holes are now just big holes, the sand is really soft and deep.

    The TW made it easy to ride sand, not very fast, but easy. Sand riding on a normal bike is a lot of work! RaZed1 , Aug 31, Jun 29, Oddometer: A few updates from a lot more googling about the swap. Same 70x58 dimension and same compression. They're both actually 's. I thought this swap was shaping up to be almost too easy- why isn't everyone doing it? Of course, it was. Certainly possible, but it makes things much more complicated and expensive, and most people myself included, don't feel it's worth the effort and expense.

    So looking into alternatives, this is what's out there. Replacement cam that increases lift from about 6mm to 9mm. Talking with web-cam it's kind of an "all purpose" grind meant to improve torque across the rev range and not particularly favor low or high RPM. The same all purpose as the TW page, an which is slightly more aggressive, and a "race" which favors mid to upper RPM. Their website claims any of their cams require their performance valve springs, though there are several reviews of people that installed the all-purpose with the stock springs without any issues on valve float or reliability.

    If there's no valve float, heavier springs only increase wear and sap extra power. The few reviews were all positive, citing an overall improvement in power though I didn't turn up any hard data. They recommend at least a slip-on exhaust. Wiseco high comp piston, M. Raises the compression from 9. On it's own, I don't think this would make a ton of difference- the increase is fairly minor. Even on the stock motor, the cam seems hold the consensus as being the limiting factor in terms of power, it's just too mild to really let the engine breathe well, especially at higher RPM.

    Anyone who's driven a TW can attest there's not really any point to winding the motor out. I don't have a tach, but the butt dyno says it doesn't pull much past or so. Revving it to the limiter is completely pointless, the engine is long out of breath and pleading for mercy. Being that the stock cam "chokes up" the motor, increasing compression without allowing it to better fill the cylinder to actually give it something to compress would not yield much benefit.

    Coupled with the cam though, I could see it being more effective. My feeling is this is probably not worth the expense. It's still a small, single, 2v motor that might make optimistically 20hp with the above mods. Even on hp sportbikes, a port-polish is only worth a few HP at best a percent or two of total HP and is usually only done for full race engine builds.

    On something like this, you'd be talking fractions of a HP. The stock jug can be slightly oversized, though a 1mm overbore only nets you an extra 6cc of displacement to a cc.

    If it was damaged then sure, but to pull apart a good engine and spend money to have the jug bored and get an oversize piston, again, not really worth the expense. I'm thinking I'll try the cam, hi-comp piston, and maybe a cheap DG slip on if for no other reason the stock muffler sounds like someone about to have diarrhea swapped bikes with a buddy the other day and wow, this bike's stock muffler sound seems like it was inspired by a wet fart, didn't realize how lousy it sounds until I was behind it.
