Polo Storico is dedicated to the preservation and restoration of Lamborghini's history, and its short-lived Formula One efforts are certainly under.

Modena Team SpA was a Formula One team from Italy that contested a single season in Lamborghini had established a Formula One specific division in , — Lamborghini Engineering — to oversee their burgeoning Formula One.

Interestingly, Lambo had already been making engines - they supplied Larrousse F1 in , and Minardi and Liger at some point before that. True, that's a good point, but there is some inherent rivalry between Lamborghini and Ferrari as companies. Of course, this is all just random rambling from a poor bloke who'd rather have a Lambo than a Ferrari any day, but i think you see what i mean ;p. Nicola Larini Eric van de Poele. After all, there would be little point starting work on an engine now, with the couple of years dev time that is realistically needed to get up to speed, looking at you here Honda, with the current hybrid units.

Who owns Lamborghini, like a Porsche engine. Won't be too bad for the brand to make their own too. Haven't Lamborghini traditionally made their own? Before they got bought out by VW? They actually tried it properly once with McLaren, Senna was impressed. Apparently he would have seriously considered staying had they went with the engine and developed it more.

But yeah, Lamborghini in F1 would be interesting to say the least. OPs getting a lot of shit but it's still a valiant effort. Actually, Senna loved the Honda engines. The year before he left McLaren, though, Honda left F1 and McLaren was stuck with Ford engines that were significantly behind the pacesetting Renaults of the time. Interestingly, Lambo had already been making engines - they supplied Larrousse F1 in , and Minardi and Liger at some point before that. Yes, the guy pretty much ran out of an interview crying when Honda annouced they will be leaving F1.

Making a grown man cry like a child - Yes, Honda once were that good. For the guys who think i'm dissing Senna - this was real and there is an actual footage there. They currently make their own v12 for the flagship cars, but use audi's v10 for their smaller models iirc.

For F1 engines they'd likely use VW or Porsche because Lambo and Audi themselves have little experience with petrol hybrids. Ya they used to make engines for lotus back in the day. But I doubt VW would sink money into having both Porsche and Lambo making engines unless they rent and the same engine. But this is all hopes and dreams. Now OP at least didn't put a Ferrari engine into a Lambo. Now that would be a possible criminal offence. But they won't use Renault.

Lambo is owned by Audi, which is owned by Volkswagen, if they do come in they'll be a works team. Despite the criticism from others, I appreciate you taking the idea from the Lamborghini logo. I mean, there's no real 'tifosi' for Lamborghini. Reason Ferrari has such a huge following is because of their long, dedicated history in the sport.

True, that's a good point, but there is some inherent rivalry between Lamborghini and Ferrari as companies. This article is quite cool: Kinda disappointing how short it was, but Jalopnik. Have you read this story about Porsche?

Pretty interesting history of how Ferdinand Piech worked his way through the Porsche family to the top. It really is an incredible story. The takeover was a long time coming, from one man's dream to a perfectly convenient recession decades later, turning Porsche's bold plans on their head.

Lambo tried once in F1 - they sucked. Too risky - if they fail miserably where their main competitor is dominating most of the time, it would be bad for the brand. It was half arsed and not a true Lambo operation. According to most writers on this subject anyway. Does anyone really still view Lamborghini as italian? Theyve been part of VW since , and since then theyve been making nothing but very down to earth, reasonable, and very german supercars. Porsches have been a lot madder than Lambos.

Their V12 cars are still very much Italian, including the engines. Audi did most of the Gallardo line of cars, but only did bits and pieces of the flagships including QA. I'm not sure i would call safe, AWD cars that adhere to Porsche school of design innovation properly italian. They mightve been done in-house but they are done under the audi guidelines.
