Facebook Google Remember Me? I couldn't find a write up on how to do this so thought I'd post this. First remove the radiator.

Its really not that bad. I've done it before and you will have the rad out and on your way before you will ever wrestle that alt out of the engine. Here's how to remove the radiator. Its a weak point and easy to break. With the rad out jack up the pass side of car and remove wheel and the plastic cover inside wheel well. From above loosen the tensioner pully with a 14mm socket.

Loosen it all the way. Now from under the car loosen the 14 mm nut that holds the idler pulley in place. Remove nut and pulley. You can now access the 14 mm bottom alt bolt. Its best reached with a swivel head ratchet like this. Remove the nut and tap the bolt. It will slide out towards the engine. You can see how it slides up and down to tighten the belt.

Remove the 10 mm bolt under the rubber gromet and plug from top of alt. Remove the 12 mm top bracket nut. With the bottom bolt out you can now wiggle the alt out. This is what it looks like without the alt in place. When you reassemble tighten the top tensioner bolt first then "lock" it in place by tightening down the nut on the pulley.

It worked best to have a helper hold the tensioner up some from the top of the engine compartment while I slide the pulley back onto the bolt. Its one of those three handed jobs. Be sure to have some coolant a gallon or two some vise grips for the transmission lines and some of those plastic fastners to replace the ones you will destroy pulling the plastic covers off.
